Since employers are already posting jobs on their pages, according to Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s VP of ads, the social network now wants to make recruitment easier for them.
The new jobs feature, which has since rolled out in the US and Canada, will allow businesses to post unlimited number of job openings on their pages for free.
Job seekers can apply for these openings right there on the pages. Initially, the social network will populate the applications with the applicant’s Facebook profile but this can be edited. The completed form will then be dispatched to the employer via messenger.
Facebook hopes the discussions between applicants and employers can take off on Messenger.
This is no good news for Jobberman and other professional networks like LinkedIn. Since Facebook is way more popular than any other social network, employers can promote their job openings on the network and reach more suitable candidates. Plus, being free, this new feature is more attractive to companies who will now not have to pay LinkedIn or Jobberman to post their vacancies.
